Irene Barnes, age 86, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at her residence in Hamilton, AL. She was born on Sunday, April 10, 1932 in Hamilton AL. Parents were Minnie Green Kurasaka and Sego Kurasaka.
Irene was a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ. Her hobbies were reading, crocheting, traveling, and teaching her family about plants and animals. She loved the outdoors, walking in the woods, and growing flowers. Irene virtually raised her children by herself.
Visitation will be Monday, August 6, 2018 at 6 PM Marion County Funeral Home. The service will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor John Holiday, Max Frye, and John McCart officiating. Burial at Love Joy Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Robert Earl Mitchell, LV Rayburn, and Wayman Paul Barnes; her parents Sego Kurasaka and Minnie Green Kurasaka; son Robert William Mitchell, and sister Jean McCurdy.
Irene leaves to cherish her in memory: Penny (Chris) Elledge, daughter of son Robert William Mitchell, Tony Rayburn, Vanessa (John) McCart, Linda (Len) Hertzing, and Paulette (Ray) Moore. She also leaves 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren, Joan Cox (sister), Marie Jones (sister), Janette (Sam) Moyer (sister), Douglas (Janice) Kurasaka (brother), Dwight Kurasaka (brother), Gerald Dwayne (Joan) Kurasaka (brother), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
